Book Progress Update!

Book Progress Update!

I’ve learned a valuable lesson on this day. Never hop into a “math fight” on the internet. Just solve it in your head and walk away. 😁

An update about book progress:

I also broke out my whiteboard and made a plan of attack for the week. I’m doing a complete read-through, and to be blunt, adding more romance into Part 1 of my romance novel. And sexy times. I got a lovely Christmas card last year from a reader (you know who you are!) wishing for more steam in my next book. I actually happen to agree.

Part 2 is still a bit of a mess. Chaotic, perhaps. See, I wrote most of it while going through a major change in my psych meds, and while the content is good, the grammar, spelling, and other quirks of an old dictation system in Google docs means huge parts can only be deciphered by me. I use Office now as my main writing tool and its dictation system I find excellent. This is good, because after January’s surgery on my right arm/shoulder I will have need of it.

And circling back to cards, last year some readers sent me splendiferous cards. If you’ve done so again and I haven’t thanked you, it’s because you may not know that Canada had no mail for a month. Our first delivery of backlog starts today, I think. I’m also not comfortable handing out my address anymore, but sometime this year I will get a P.O. box which I would be happy to share. (I love exchanging mail with people).

Take care, all! Xx Ann ❤️

Last Days of Summer

Last Days of Summer

It’s my favorite time of year, when the mornings are crisp and the pumpkin spice comes barrelling in Kool-Aid Man style. I have been very neglectful of my blog, because I found writing under a NDA made it a bit difficult to know what I could share and what was Top Secret. So, I have decided to share a few tidbits about another project I’m working on, that I am going to indie publish hopefully in early 2021.

This project is full of tropes, and all my favorites: it’s a forced-proximity secret-identity rockstar vacation romcom. 🙂 It takes place in Canada, Sweden, and Japan, and will be a bit of a madcap adventure. I’m about a third of the way done, and am excited to bring this story to you. Thanks for stopping by! Mwah! <3

Back again

Back again

As I was standing at my sink a few days ago, I felt a familiar slipping sensation in my lower back, and barely made it to the bed. Now, I know bed rest isn’t ideal for a back injury, so I have been getting up and exercising gently, but it leaves me at a bit of a loose end when it comes to working on my book. Sitting up for hours at my laptop station or at my desk upstairs with the PC (my preferred location to work) are both out.

However, with my tablet and Google Drive, I am thankfully getting plenty done from the comfort of my bed or couch, while wrapped in a heating blanket and smothered in anti-inflammatory gel. I’m sure I will look back at this soon and laugh, but for now I’m focussed on keeping up with my writing schedule and not letting this derail me too much.

Ice

Ice

Welp, just as I foretold the end of winter, an ice storm descended upon us. This tells me two things: one, I will never be a weather forecaster; and two, this is a perfect day to stay cozy and write until the power goes out. As we live in the woods, we’ve taken out water in preparation, and have the lanterns on standby. I hope wherever you are, your day is going well and you are also cozy and happy.

Welcome

Welcome

Welcome to my fledgling website! Please excuse the sawdust while everything gets sorted. My name is Ann Whynot, and I am an emerging author of contemporary romance and romantic comedy. (What that translates to, is that I am working on a manuscript). I invite you to join me on my journey through the foibles and frustrations, the joy and the Jenga involved in writing my book. Yes, I said Jenga–if you’ve ever played the game and written a novel, you may recognize similar elements between the two.

I will generate content for this site on a haphazard basis, as writing my current novel is my main priority. In the meantime, please feel free to catch up with me on social media or email–I love to talk, and will happily answer back.

Toodles,  Ann 🙂
